Women Film Critics Circle 2022 Awards Winners
This year’s awards season has commenced with a lot of anticipation as films that were delayed during the pandemic have finally released and therefore there has been that return to viewing big studio blockbusters in the cinema and at home.
The Women Film Critics Circle is over 80 entertainment journalists and film scholars that have united to form the first national association of women critics observing and elevating women in film.
The Women Film Critics Circle also takes the opportunity to highlight those films made by women and about women during this season and has its annual awards to recognise those films.
From confronting religion’s role in justifying sexual assault to telling the strength of black women punching back the fists of colonialism, this year our nominations, and, in turn, our winners were a celebration of how women have always stood up for themselves.
